Meet Zillah

Certified Nutritional Therapist

NHFDip, mFNTP

My Story

My name is Zillah, I’m a Nutritional Therapist with a Practitioner Diploma in Nutritional Healing from the Nutritional Healing Foundation. I am also certified in Menopause Health and as a Child and Brain Development Nutritional Advisor. I am a full member of The Federation of Nutritional Therapy Practitioners (FNTP). I live in a village called North Wootton in Norfolk with my family and practice from my treatment room at home but also offer remote consultations via Zoom, to clients from further afield. I began my nutrition journey back in 2010 in response to my own diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis at the age of 30. I had just got married and we were planning on starting a family so I wasn’t prepared to accept the prognosis I was given by my Neurologist. I spent the first year researching and found lots of evidence of the benefits that nutrition and lifestyle could have on people living with MS. Meeting many others living well with MS through adopting these recommendations gave me hope that was a far cry from the future I’d been told I was destined for at diagnosis. It wasn’t a quick fix or an easy journey. I was a very picky eater as a child, growing up I certainly didn’t have the healthiest diet, and I wasn’t as active as I could have been. My diagnosis gave me the determination to do all I could for the best chance of living the life I had envisioned. I have now been symptom free for 12 years and enjoy a busy and active life with my family. My experience inspired me to train as a Nutritional Therapist so I could help other people find answers to their health problems. 26 million people in the UK live with at least one long term condition, 10 million people have two or more. Obesity is on the rise, dementia is now the biggest cause of death, and it has been estimated that over 8 million people in the UK are currently taking antidepressants. During the last 12 years, I have discovered that nutrition and lifestyle can have a powerful impact on the lives of people living and struggling with all kinds of conditions. Unfortunately, many people are completely unaware that their symptoms could be resolved through making positive changes to their lifestyle. I feel passionately about supporting people on their journey of understanding and recovery; chronic disease does not need to be inevitable. When I began my own journey, it was important for me to understand the science behind the nutritional and lifestyle effects I was experiencing myself and observing in others. Research into the benefits of these areas on physical and mental health is constantly evolving so I am always studying the subject; reading books and research papers, attending training events and courses, and connecting with other practitioners in the nutritional health community as well as those working in a range of different complimentary practices.

About Me

My Approach

As a Naturopathic Nutritional Therapist, I work with the knowledge that the body can heal itself given the correct environment at cellular level. Working with each client on an individual basis to discover the root cause of the symptoms they are experiencing. Following a gradual, step-by-step process enables us to adapt the treatment plan depending on the outcomes the client achieves. Over time I build a positive partnership with my clients, offering support and encouragement. I begin with an initial consultation where I take a thorough case history of my client, including current diet and lifestyle habits. Through a series of follow-up sessions, we begin working on the imbalances in the body, focusing on the nutritional value of food and supporting the body in releasing toxicity; creating an environment for their cells to thrive. By switching from a state of defense to one of growth and repair, we can achieve optimal well-being and sustained health. My aim is to enable and empower my clients to take charge of their own health. Whether their goal is to improve their overall diet, eradicate niggling symptoms, or address the real cause of dis-ease, working with a nutritional therapist could be the answer.

FAQs

What can Nutritional Therapy help with?

Some of the conditions that a Nutritional Therapist commonly works with include:

Weight management, hormonal imbalances and fertility problems, skin conditions, blood sugar management, circulation and joint problems, poor immunity, ageing-related symptoms, sleep problems and stress-related conditions.

However, if your symptoms or condition isn’t listed, please don’t hesitate to contact me as this is just an example of the conditions I cover. Most people would benefit from working with a Nutritional Therapist.

Will I have to give up all the foods I love?

My goal isn’t to take away your enjoyment of food, it is to help you explore which foods might not be beneficial for your health as an individual, provide information as to why this is, and consider foods that would instead support your journey to optimal health. I hope to offer enough guidance that you feel empowered to make better choices.

How long does it take to achieve results?

The length of treatment varies depending on the individual client. Chronic conditions can often develop over years so will require more time to resolve, whereas acute symptoms can take less time. I find the most sustainable results happen over the course of 10-12 fortnightly sessions.

How long are individual sessions and what do they involve?

The initial consultation usually takes 90 mins and consists of taking a detailed case history which includes looking at family history, health from birth to current age, typical diet, and any medication/supplement information. We would also come up with some health goals to work towards.

Follow-up sessions are 60 mins and work through the cellular model of health, applying the client’s symptoms so we can explore and understand their root cause. An individual treatment plan is discussed with the client and manageable steps given, along with example recipes and/or demonstrations.

Do you offer single sessions with ready-made meal plans?

This is not a service I currently offer. It takes time to unpack symptoms and find the root cause of health issues, and the treatment plan often evolves and adapts to the progress made between sessions. I have found clients make more sustainable changes and have longer lasting results from working with me regularly over a period of time.
